After winning their first two qualifiers, the Netherlands have also won their third by the narrowest of margins in Norway.

No goals were scored in the first half, in which Norway lacked the ability to really threaten their opponents while the Dutch showed little initiative themselves.

But the only and therefore deciding goal came three minutes after the hour mark. A well aimed Mark van Bommel volley went in at the far post with the keeper beaten.

A minute earlier, Dirk Kuyt had already hit the crossbar.

With nine points from three games, the Dutch have a comfortable lead in Group 9 as all other opponents are at least five points away.
