A last-gap penalty earned Liverpool a draw with Atlético de Madrid, while Olympique moved into third place with a convincing win over PSV Eindhoven.

For a long time, Atlético thought that Maxi Rodríguez’ goal in the 37th minute was enough to beat Liverpool and secure their spot in the round of sixteen.

But Liverpool saved the best for last and earned a penalty in the very last minute of the match. Steven Gerrard sent the ball into the upper right corner to level the score.

Marseille convinced at the Velodrome, beating PSV Eindhoven 3-0 after losing 2-0 in the Netherlands, two weeks ago.

Koné opened the score on the half hour mark, and Niang took care of the remaining two goals in the 63rd and 71st minutes.
