Four months after holding World Cup finalists France to a draw at Euro 2008, Romania did it again in Saturday’s qualification match.

In fact, Romania were close to winning the match as Petre and Goian put the home side in a 2-0 lead within seventeen minutes.

But Frank Ribery got one back for Les Bleus in the 37th minute and Yoann Gourcuff equalised in the 69th.

The French didn’t manage to push through though and a winning goal never came.

France and Romania are fourth and fifth respectively in Group 7, both having earned four points from their first three games. Serbia and Lithuania lead with six points each.
