(GSM) – Standard Liege are through to the quarter finals in the UEFA Europa League following a 4-1 aggregate win over Panathinaikos.

The Belgians had already beaten their Greek opponents 1-3 in Athens and therefore felt little pressure in their home match.

Again, Panathinaikos failed to create much danger and it was instead Standard’s Dieumerci Mbokani to score the only goal of the match in the last minute of the first half, 1-0.

Panathinaikos, now in need of three goals just to force extra time, never managed to sufficiently threaten the Belgian defense in the second half.

As such, the only surviving Belgian club in this season’s European tournaments, comfortably advance to the last eight.
