Frenchman Jean-Paul Rabier has been named as new coach of Madagascar, official sources said on Wednesday, charged with qualifying the island’s national side for the major football finals.
The 55-year-old was previously in charge of Burkina Faso (2002-2004) and succeeded in guiding them into the Africa Cup of Nations finals in 2004.
He also worked in Japan, Qatar and Algeria after being coach of French second division sides in the 1980s.
