Espanyol playmaker Joan Verdu could be the subject of a real bidding war in the summer, Marca understands.
The player, who has just over a year left on his contract at Cornella El Prat, has been attracting a lot of attention with his performances this season and is widely tipped for a big club move in the summer.
Espanyol officials plan to discuss the new deal with Verdu and his representatives, but one of the interested clubs could beat them to the signing of the promising midfielder.
Marca claims that Roma boss Luis Enrique is a keen admirer of the 28-year-old and the Giallorossi are expected to make an official bid for the player’s services come end of the season.
Rubin Kazan, Valencia and Sevilla are also keen on Verdu and are expected to enter the race when the transfer window opens in June.
According to Marca, the midfielder has a €6 million release clause inserted in his contract, which makes him even more appealing to interested clubs.
