Race hots up for Toby Alderweireld

The Telegraph is reporting that quite a few top European clubs are locked in the battle for Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld.

The Belgian stopper will be out of contract in June 2019, and even though Spurs have the option to extend the deal for another year, doing so would trigger a €28.5 million release clause.

This means that Tottenham would be better off selling their star player this summer, especially as he seems keen on leaving.

According to reports, the likes of PSG, Chelsea, Barcelona and Manchester United are just some of the clubs showing interest in the 29-year-old at the moment.

A four-match winning run saw Spurs create a five-point advantage over local rivals Chelsea in the race for the final Champions League berth and they are now priced at 1/8 to achieve a top 4 finish.
