Rafa and Roy it’s time to shut up!

Inter boss Rafa Benitez can’t seem to resist commenting about his old club Liverpool and particularly boss Roy Hodgson.

New Kop boss Hodgson has also made numerous comments on the quality of the Liverpool squad left behind by the Spaniard and also accused Rafa of banning legend Kenny Dalglish from Melwood Liverpool’s training ground.

Rant

Ahead of his Inter’s side visit to Tottenham in the Champions League he told the media: “I think that Mr Hodgson, he doesn’t understand,”

“Every single press conference is even worse than the last one. He’s talking about things that he doesn’t know. And some people cannot see a priest on a mountain of sugar. Maybe he hasn’t been in Liverpool too long. We gave the fans their pride again. We fought for the fans, we fought for the club and we fought for our players.

“So maybe he cannot understand this. I brought back Kenny Dalglish to do a role in the club and Christian Purslow gave him another role. He (Hodgson) doesn’t know but I will explain it to him.

“So, instead of talking about the flips or the flops, he has to concentrate on his players, try to do his best. He has a good job to do.”

Since leaving the Reds Rafa seems to be constantly commenting on his former club because his reign seems to be criticised at most of the Reds press conferences.

He is stating that every press conference that Hodgson does is worse than the last, yet every time he does an interview or press conference with English press he seems to have a cryptic comment to make.

He talks about Hodgson getting on with his job, yet he is putting more pressure on the former-Fulham boss by constantly commenting about the Reds. Hodgson has a big enough job trying to sort of the club without having a war of words with the Spaniard.

Bitter

It almost seems like he is bitter that he is no longer at Anfield. He should be more concerned with his new club than his old club. Why does he need to comment on Liverpool? He doesn’t and I think he should now leave that behind, because if he doesn’t then he will have trouble concentrating on managing European Champions Inter.

Squad

I don’t think Roy Hodgson is wrong by criticising the quality of squad he has at Anfield. Liverpool struggled in the Premier League last season for a reason and that reason was the players were simply not good enough but he shouldn’t be criticising his players in the press.

Benitez has a right to defend his actions but most bosses who have moved on wouldn’t bother commenting on a former-team. However most of the players in the Liverpool squad are players signed by the Spaniard. They are his players and it seems that he is still refuses to take any of the blame for the Liverpool crisis.

Quiet

I don’t even know why Hodgson has got involved in any debate over Dalglish’s position at the club. Dalglish may be a Liverpool legend but he works behind the scenes at the club. And as Benitez said it was him who brought the Scot back into the club.

Hodgson should be concentrating on improving the squad’s morale and criticising his current players won’t help the mood in the dressing room. You would have thought that Hodgson with all his experience would know not to publicly criticise his players.

Doubts

Although Liverpool have improved slightly in the last few weeks they have endured a poor start to Hodgson’s reign as manager and he isn’t doing himself any favours by criticising Rafa or his ex-players.

He might win over some of Rafa’s critics but a lot of the comments he is making is making him look like he is out of his depth. I am not a Liverpool fan, in fact quite the opposite but the war of words that has gone on would concern me if I was a Liverpool fan. The club need to get back to concentrating on football.

I have written in the past my admiration for Roy Hodgson but now is the time he let his team do the talking on the pitch. Maybe then everybody involved can move on and Roy can get on with trying to improve Liverpool’s fortunes.

Have Rafa Benitez and Roy Hodgson said too much in the press?

You people aren’t fit to clean the shoes of Rafa Benitez, let alone spout your lofty trite on whether he should defend himself against the abuse of Hodgson and the British press.

You people need to get your noses out of the trough that is other peoples opinions and start growing some of your own.

Well Rebel Cork, it’s funny how this works. I voice my opinion in the article. That means whatever that is in my article is my opinion. So I would like to know where your football column is and why your opinion is more important than most of my readers? My other readers know their football. I can hear Rafa calling Rebel Cork because he needs his shoes cleaning and your his favourite shoeshine 😉

Rafa is a pig always trying to get a bigger slice of the pie…

I would have thought Roy-boy would have more class than to point the finger in public…he’s always been so good with the press, but it seems LFC’s crisis is getting the better of him at the moment…is he cut for this kind of pressure? I’d hate to see him fail after what he’s done at Fulham (and prior) but LFC is a whole other ball game compared to some clubs… good luck Roy…stfu Rafa.
