Rakitic shows interest in Sevilla return

According to a recent report from Sport, Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic would prefer a return to Sevilla ahead of a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Still, a move to North London isn’t entirely out of the question, even if it’s starting to look more than a little bit unlikely. Rakitic has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp for quite some time now, and yet it doesn’t appear as if there’s any conclusive evidence to indicate that he’s going to be leaving in the next few weeks or months.

Rakitic was once viewed as one of the best midfielders in world football and while that may still be the case in the eyes of some, the interest surrounding his future instead indicates that his next move could be his last.

At the age of 32 he still has a role to play at the top level, but it’s just a case of figuring out what that role is.
