French defender Adil Rami has poured cold water on speculation linking him with a summer exit from Valencia.
The highly rated defender has developed into one of La Liga’s top central defenders since arriving at Mestalla from Lille and has recently seen his name linked with Arsenal and Anzhi, among other clubs.
Due to the difficult financial situation, Valencia chiefs were believed to be pondering a summer sale, but the player has revealed that he has been offered a new deal by los Che instead.
“There’s an offer from Valencia to extend my contract, and I feel good here,” Rami confessed to Canal +.
“The most important thing for me is to be a first-team regular, which is not the case for all my rivals for a place in the French national team.”
The 27-year-old has been in fine form this season, making 22 La Liga appearances for los Che and featuring in 6 Champions League games.
Rami is set to miss Valencia’s Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain through injury, with his side trailing 2-1 after the first leg.
He has lost his place in the national team since the arrival of Didier Deschamps, and failed to appear in any of les Bleus’ three 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
