Ramires hailed Chelsea’s Champions League ‘draw’ with Benfica on Portuguese TV, despite the fact his team won the match 1-0.
Chelsea broke the deadlock in the 75th minute of the quarter-final first leg at Estadio da Luz, courtesy of a close-range finish from Ivory Coast international Salomon Kalou.
At the time of the goal, Brazil midfielder Ramires was off the field receiving treatment following a challenge from Oscar Cardozo.
By the time Ramires returned to the action, the game had already restarted, and it appears he was unaware his team had taken the lead.
He told television reporters in the tunnel afterwards he was thrilled with a 0-0 draw, and said any kind of win in the return fixture next week would see his side through to the last four.
The 25-year-old would surely have been delighted to discover Chelsea will in fact go into the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday with an all-important away goal.
