Bayern Munich strolled to a 4-0 victory over India in New Delhi, in what was local hero Baichung Bhutia’s final game.
In the unusual circumstances of a club facing a country, it was the four-time European Cup champions that always looked more comfortable.
Mario Gomez was the first to break the deadlock at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
A quick Arjen Robben throw found Thomas Mueller who pulled the ball back for Gomez to finish with ease in the 14th minute.
Bayern doubled their advantage just 15 minutes later.
Mueller was the one to grab the glory this time, heading home a cross from Dutchman Robben.
The 22-year-old grabbed his second with a fine individual effort on 37 minutes to put the Germans three clear.
Mario Gomez teed up Bastian Schweinsteiger who fired a blistering shot into the top corner to put Bayern 4-0 up before half time.
Despite his side’s failure to get on the scoresheet, Bhutia received a standing ovation when he was substituted with five minutes to go.
The 35-year-old made more than a hundred appearances for India between 1995 and 2012.
