Ramsey close to agreeing new Arsenal contract

Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey has all but agreed to sign a contract extension at the Emirates, reports The Guardian.

The 23-year-old has developed into a key player for the Gunners this season and he has been in stunning form until he picked up a thigh injury on Boxing day.

And with just over two years left on his current deal, Arsenal have offered the midfielder a new and improved five-year contract.

According to The Guardian, the player has agreed to ink a contract extension with his current employers, and he will be earning more than £100,000 per week under the terms of the agreement.

Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky have just extended their respective deals with the club, whereas Santi Cazorla is expected to do the same in the coming days.

However, doubts still remain over the long-term future of boss Arsene Wenger, who will be out of contract in the summer.
