Rangers 1/1 to beat NK Osijek in Thursdays Europa League qualifier

Competition: Europa League qualifier

Market: Rangers win

Odds: 1/1 @ Bet 365

After a stellar start to his tenure at Ibrox, Steven Gerrard’s high-flying Rangers side will host Croatian outfit Osijek as the former England midfielder looks to secure European football in his first season in Glasgow.

Starting with the hosts on Thursday, although many were worried by Gerrard’s lack of managerial experience, the Liverpool icon couldn’t of wished for a more emphatic start to life in Glasgow. Unbeaten in all five of the matches the former England captain has been in charge, The Blues are coming off the back of their most eye-catching result as they dispatched of last seasons League One winners Wigan 3-0. While signings such as Liverpool youngster Ryan Kent have impressed and offer firepower in the final third, it will be their recent defensive record that will be most impressive for Gerrard. In fact, the new Rangers boss is yet to see his side concede a single goal yet.

As for the visitors, after flirting with relegation two years ago, Osijek have done an impressive job of turning themselves into a stable Top Four side after booking their second fourth-place finish on the bounce. However, while they’re coming off a win in their opening win in the Croatian League, the visitors did lose the first leg matchup to Rangers 1-0 and they were outplayed for large spells of the game. Given the gulf in class between the two sides, we’re expecting this to be a tough evening away in Glasgow on Thursday.
