Rangers and Celtic are interested in signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk. It has been reported that Lingard is open to leaving United next month due to lack of playing time, and Scottish Premiership giants Rangers and Celtic are looking into the possibility of bringing him to Scotland.
According to WhoScored, Lingard made nine starts and 13 substitute appearances in the Premier League and scored two goals and provided one assist in nine Europa League games for United last season. So far this campaign, the 27-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has made just two EFL Cup appearances, according to WhoScored.
Lingard is a Premier League level player, and although Rangers and Celtic are big clubs, playing in the Scottish Premiership may not appeal to the 27-year-old. Moreover, it is unlikely that the Gers or the Hoops would be able to afford his salary.
