The battle between Rangers and Celtic for the domination of Scottish football is getting fiercer by the day as Rangers seem to be mounting their most serious title challenge in a decade, and according to Daily Record, the two clubs are also vying for the signature of Tyrese Campbell of Stoke City.
The 20-year-old has shown fine for the Championship side this season, with 10 goal involvements (eight goals, two assists) in 21 appearances in all competitions, and thus caught the eye of the two top sides in Scotland.
Celtic were apparently the first to show interest in his services, and they made contact with Stoke to make the usual initial inquiries. However, Rangers have now joined the fray, sending scouts to watch the youngster play, with director of football Ross Wilson believed to have been following his progress for a while. Both teams believe Cambell could develop into a proper star, but at the moment, Rangers are looking to fill the position of backup to Alfredo Morelos with 37-year-old Jermain Defoe drawing towards the end of his playing days.
