Glasgow Rangers are currently pursuing several transfer targets, according to manager Steven Gerrard.
The Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) decided to end the 2019/20 season back in May, proclaiming Rangers’ fierce rivals Celtic as champions for the ninth time in a row. It is quite obvious that Gerrard and his team are looking at all possible ways to end their long-standing supremacy in Scottish football as they prepare for the start of pre-season ahead of 2020/21.
Rangers have already confirmed the departures of six players, including Gerrard’s former teammate at Liverpool, fullback Jon Flanagan. They’ve replaced him by signing 20-year-old Calvin Bassey from Leicester City on a pre-contract agreement, and they’ve triggered the option to sign midfielder Ianis Hagi permanently from Genk, after the 21-year-old spent a season on loan at Ibrox.
Gerrard told Rangers TV that the club are still working on ‘numerous’ targets behind the scenes to strengthen the squad, but he carefully avoided mentioning any names.
