Having been awarded a throw-in, Partick Thistle were supposed to send the ball back to Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor. However, unaware of the situation, Rangers attacking midfielder Malik Tillman applied pressure on the Thistle back line and stole the ball, before rounding goalkeeper Jamie Sneddon to score.
To nobody’s surprise, Tillman’s actions caused an outrage among the Thistle players and a scuffle broke out. The matter was eventually settled by Rangers allowing their aggrieved opponents to score uncontested at the other end, a sportsmanlike, respectful gesture.
Rangers eventually won the match by 3-2 and progressed through the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.
