Rangers eye Aarons

Rangers are eyeing a move for Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons, according to the Mirror.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard is looking to further strengthen his squad ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline and has identified Aarons as a potential target, with Hull City and AEK Athens also interested.

The twenty-two-year old spent the second half of last season on loan at Hellas Verona where he played eleven times.

Prior to his switch to the Serie A side he made five appearances for Rafael Benitez’s side last term, scoring his one and only goal of the campaign coming in a 3-2 after-extra-time defeat to Nottingham Forest in the second round of the EFL Cup.

In total he has played twenty-seven times for Newcastle, scoring four times while internationally he was capped five times for England’s U20s between 2014 and 2015, scoring twice.

Rangers sit in fourth place ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm Derby at Celtic Park, where the away win can be backed at 9/2.
