The Daily Mail reports that Rangers are lining up a move for Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood but, will find competition from the likes of Fulham and Stoke.
Harewood has found himself on the fringes of the Villa squad and is often used as a “super-sub” by manager Martin O’Neill. And Harewood’s agent Phil Sproson confirmed that Rangers are interested in the striker, but Villa are unlikely to sell unless they find a replacement for Harewood.
Stoke City and Fulham have also enquired about the player, and Sproson told the Daily Mail:
“Marlon has been linked with four or five clubs but, at the moment, he’s going nowhere. Martin O’Neill isn’t looking to get him out of the building. That was what came out of the conversations with Villa in January and nothing has changed- unless they bring in another striker. Things might change then.”
“We know that Stoke City are keen but clubs like Fulham and Rangers are also interested. So its a case of watch this space.”
Harewood only joined Aston Villa last July for a reported fee of £4 million from West Ham and signed a three-year-deal at Villa Park.
