Rangers want to sign Freddie Woodman from Preston North End in the summer transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun. The report has claimed that Rangers manager Michael Beale personally wants the former Newcastle United goalkeeper at St. James’ Park for next season and beyond.
The Scottish Sun have reported that Rangers scouts have watched Woodman in action for Preston in the Championship in England a number of times already this season. Preston are reportedly willing to sell the 25-year-old goalkeeper in the summer of 2023. Rangers are ready to make a bid of £3.5 million for Woodman.
Woodman has been on the books of Preston since the summer of 2022 when he joined from Premier League club Newcastle. The 25-year-old former England Under-21 international goalkeeper has established himself as the number one between the posts for Preston and is one of the better players in his position in the Championship.
So far this season, Woodman has made 34 appearances in the Championship, one in the Carabao Cup and two in the FA Cup. Preston are 12th in the Championship table at the moment with 46 points from 34 matches, eight points behind sixth-placed Luton Town.
