Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault during a post-season break in Scotland.
Broadfoot was on holiday with a group of friends in the seaside town of Ayr after helping Rangers retain the Scottish Premier League title when he was stopped by police following an incident outside a block of flats.
The 25-year-old Scotland international faces charges of assaulting a man and breach of the peace and will appear at Ayr Sheriff Court later this month.
A Strathclyde Police spokesman said: “A 25-year-old is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with an alleged assault and breach of the peace following an incident at Gartferry Court in Ayr on Sunday.”
Broadfoot’s contract with Rangers expires during the close-season and he has yet to decide whether to remain at Ibrox.
