Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes has been ruled out for at least six weeks after suffering a knee injury in the Champions League defeat against Unirea Urziceni.
The Portugal international, 30, was forced off at half-time in the 4-1 loss and had scans on Wednesday which revealed he faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Rangers boss Walter Smith said on Friday that Mendes will be unavailable for at least six weeks and could miss two months of the Scottish champions’ schedule.
Meanwhile, Scottish police have been looking at CCTV footage in a bid to find a fan who is alleged to have racially abused Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu.
The incident, which happened in a school car park opposite Ibrox after Tuesday’s match, has now been reported to police and an investigation launched.
