Rangers are interested in signing Luke Thomas from Leicester City in the final days of the January transfer window, according to The Daily Mail (print edition, page 67, January 24, 2024). The report has claimed that Rangers manager Philippe Clement wants to sign a new left-back, and Thomas is on his radar.
Thomas has been on the books of Leicester since 2008 and has come through the English club’s youth system. The 22-year-old left-back joined Sheffield United on loan in the summer of 2023, but the deal was mutually terminated earlier this month. He made 11 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League.
Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 46 points from 20 matches. The Gers are eight points behind leaders, Old Firm rivals and reigning champions Celtic, who have played 22 games. Meanwhile, Leicester City currently find themselves at the top of the Championship table with 66 points from 28 matches.
