Catalan daily newspaper Sport has learned that Portuguese full-back Raphael Guerreiro rejected the opportunity to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
The Catalans were determined to sign the left-back as a back-up to Jordi Alba and they even agreed a transfer fee with Lorient.
However, Sport claims that Guerreiro was not interested in playing second fiddle to the Spain star and instead opted to join Borussia Dortmund.
Having joined pre-season training late after helping Portugal lift the Euro 2016 trophy, the 22-year-old has yet to nail down a regular starting berth at Signal-Iduna Park, but he is widely expected to be starting for the Millionaires this season.
Capable of operating as a left winger as well, Guerreiro chose the right moment to leave Lorient for greener pastures, and even though he snubbed the offer from Barcelona, a move to Borussia Dortmund should prove beneficial for his career.
