(GSM) – Raúl has finished his move to Schalke 04. The Real Madrid legend has signed a two-year-contract at the Bundesliga outfit.
Raúl announced his departure from Real at a press conference on Monday. The 33-year-old striker was also linked with a number of Premier League sides, but he has now decided to join Schalke instead.
Raúl played his entire professional career for Real Madrid and has made 741 official appearances for Los Merengues, scoring 323 goals in the process. The 102-times capped Spain international won sixteen major trophies with the Spanish giants.
The forward will undergo a medical Today and he will train with his new team-mates for the first time in the afternoon. Schalke won’t have to pay a transfer-fee since Real allowed their club icon a free transfer despite the fact he still had one year on his contract at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“This is great news for Schalke 04,” said Schalke coach Felix Magath on the club’s official website. “I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve managed to lure a player like Raúl to the Bundesliga and to Schalke. He’s a world-class forward and an extraordinary player.”
“His qualities will help us make the next step in our development as a club. His capture is decisive in our ambition to rebuild the squad and to prepare the team for the future. I’m looking forward to working with Raúl.”
