(GSM) – Raul Gonzalez may have fallen behind the attacking pecking order at Santiago Bernabeu but the los Merengues forward isn’t worried about his place at the club.
While, the Madrid captain has lost his place in the starting eleven and has warmed the substitute’s bench more often under coach Manuel Pellegrini, the record club goal-scorer believes his role with the club remains as “important” as ever.
“I am a professional and it is my duty to help the team whether I am playing or on the bench.
“My role has always been important in this team since I was 17 years old and it will continue to be.”
And the 32-year-old has insisted that his relationship with Pellegrini is “magnificent” as he strives towards achieving a regular spot in the team.
However, he knows that only hard work and dedication would help him earn a place in the starting line-up.
“The team is playing well,” Raul said.
“We achieved our goal of finishing first in the group in the Champions League and even though I’m playing less, like everyone’s seen, I’m training and fighting to keep playing and to enjoy the profession I love most – football.”
