Veteran striker Raul Tamudo has left Espanyol and has signed for newly promoted La Liga club Real Sociedad on a free transfer. Tamudo, an Espanyol youth product, leaves the club after fourteen years of loyal service. He has signed a one year contract with Sociedad.
Tamudo is Espanyol’s record goal scorer, had a forgettable 09/10 season as he made only six appearances for the club without netting a single goal. A falling out with club manager Mauricio Pochettino did not help matters either.
He was part of the Espanyol team that won the League Cup in 2006. Tamudo has been capped 13 times by Spain and has also represented the country at various youth levels.
