RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich played out a 1-1 draw last night as the Bundesliga title race continues to heat up.

The German Bundesliga is back and we got underway with some pretty fun action on Friday night. RB Leipzig and Bayern went to war in an entertaining clash, with the pair sharing the spoils.

Today, we’re going to take a look at some of the big takeaways from the game.

Bayern’s dominance

Bayern Munich probably should’ve won this match on multiple occasions. Gnabry hit the post, Goretzka had a goal disallowed and Muller. should have won it late in the day with a golden opportunity. They controlled the pace and had the lion’s share of possession, but they weren’t able to convert that into all three points – something they need to consider moving forward as the title race proceeds.

Hope for Leipzig

Leipzig have been on a fantastic run of form and even when they had their backs against the wall, they managed to pull a positive result out of thin air. Bayern were putting the pressure on them in more ways than one but they held firm, keeping their title aspirations alive. Even if they aren’t still in the picture with Bayern running away with it by April, there’s a lot to be excited about for this squad.

Consistency is key

After two months away, the longest amount of time for any European league after the World Cup winter break, the Bundesliga returned. Bayern are currently riding high at the top of the Bundesliga table but there’s no guarantee of how long that’s going to last, at least, based on form. They need to find their winning form again, and even though it’s still a point, this is a notable setback.
