Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has fiercely dismissed rumours suggesting Timo Werner could leave the club this summer.
“Stop reading! Read a book! There is no book on Timo, so read a book!”, said the German when asked about the subject in a press conference.
Werner joined Chelsea last summer from RB Leipzig for a fee of around £50 million, after the Blues apparently stole the move under the noses of Liverpool. However, the striker cannot be said to have blended in at Stamford Bridge the way he was expected to, having scored just five times in 28 Premier League appearances.
With Tuchel having a strong selection of attacking players at his disposal, and the club reportedly keen on signing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund as well, rumours arose that Werner had grown frustrated and was eyeing a return to the Bundesliga.
But Tuchel believes the Germany international has no reason to be frustrated at this point and expects him to rise to the challenge of the Premier League very soon. And when that happens, he expects the rumours of the 25-year-old’s departure to stop.
