Real and United tracked Fellaini

Real Madrid and Manchester United were both interested in signing Marouane Fellaini before the Belgium international joined Everton last summer.

The 21-year-old joined the Toffees in a £15million move from Standard Liege last summer.

“We had heard of the interest of Real Madrid and United but I didn’t want my son to leave the country so young,” Fellaini’s father Abdullah Tef is quoted as saying in The Sun.

“Last summer Tottenham were very interested and Manchester City too. In the end, though, he went to Everton. I have spoken to David Moyes, who’s a charming man.

“They are, of course, very pleased with him and that makes me so proud, how quickly he has adapted.”
