According to Estadio Deportivo, a fee has been agreed between Real Betis and Sporting CP for the transfer of defensive midfielder William Carvalho. The 26-year-old is on the market after spending the last thirteen years of his playing career with the Portuguese giants, as he goes in search of a new challenge.
Betis have been slowly working their way up through the ranks of Spanish football, finishing 6th in La Liga last season. The signing of Carvalho would be a huge statement of intent for a side who just a few years ago wouldn’t have even considered a move like this to be plausible. The transfer fee is said to be around €20 million with an additional €5 million in add-ons, although Carvalho will still need to fly to Spain in order to complete his medical and finalise the personal details.
Carvalho recently returned from Russia where he took part in the World Cup with Portugal.
