Spanish newspaper Marca has suggested that Real Betis are preparing a January bid for Anderlecht midfielder Roland Vargas.
Los Verdiblancos coach Pepe Mel has requested a new right-sided midfielder from sporting director Vlada Stosic, with the club official already working on adding a quality player to the squad.
While Stosic has opened talks over two unnamed players, Anderlecht midfielder Rolando Vargas has emerged as the number one target for the La Liga side.
Vargas, 26, is essentially an attacking midfielder, but can also play on the right hand side and he could be signed on the cheap.
The Venezuelan was predicted a great career when he left Club Brugge to join arch rivals Anderlecht in the summer of 2011, but his progress at Constant Vanden Stock was halted by numerous injuries.
Vargas is now looking for a new challenge and is believed to be tempted by the interest from La Liga high-flyers.
