Real Betis want Pablo Osvaldo

La Liga newcomers Real Betis are in advanced talks with Argentine striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, according to Estadio Deportivo.

After making Rafael van der Vaart their first marquee signing of the summer, los Verdiblancos have set their sights on the former Espanyol star.

Osvaldo is a free agent after he was released from his contract at Southampton and it looks as though he will not be returning to Boca Juniors in spite of the successful loan spell.

Real Betis chairman Juan Carlos Ollero admits the club are trying to sign the Argentine, even if that will be no easy task.

According to the latest reports, the La Liga side have increased their offer from €600,000 to €750,000 per year, but that is still some way off the player’s demands.

Pablo Osvaldo have some top-flight experience in Spain having spent two seasons at Espanyol, during which he scored 20 goals in 44 league appearances.
