Real Madrid announced Friday the transfer of Dutch international midfielder Wesley Sneijder to Inter Milan.

“Real Madrid and Inter Milan have reached an agreement to transfer the player Wesley Sneijder to the Italian club,” it said in a statement.

It did not mention the transfer fee, but Spanish media said it was around 15 million euros.

Sneijder joined Real from Ajax in the summer of 2007 on a five-year deal worth 27 million euros.

But new Real chairman Florentino Perez is now seeking to recoup some of the more than 250 million euros he has splashed out on the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso.

Sneijder, 25, has said he is leaving against his will.

“I have been badly treated, but I prefer not to talk about it,” he said on Thursday.

“What has happened is very bizarre. The coach (Manuel Pellegrini) said he was depending on me but there are people in the club who are not… I was very happy here, I can’t deny it. It is hard to leave…but that’s life. Now I’m happy.”

Sneijder will join another Dutchman in the northern Italian city, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who joined AC Milan earlier this month.

Another Dutchman, winger Arjen Robben, has joined Bayern Munich.
