Real Madrid are in search of a new striker, and one of the four or five options currently considered is Roberto Firmino, according to Fabrizio Romano. There has been no contact between Los Blancos and Firmino’s camp as of yet, only internal discussions at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Brazilian will leave Liverpool as a free agent after the game against Southampton at St. Mary’s on Sunday, within the final round of the Premier League season. The Merseysiders, particularly manager Jurgen Klopp, were reportedly keen on him staying put, but he has obviously decided the time is right to seek a new challenge, and he has already said his goodbyes to the Anfield faithful.
Given his indisputable quality, the 31-year-old will certainly represent a shrewd acquisition for any club, and even if Real decide to step up their interest, it remains to be seen whether he’d be willing to move there.
