Real Madrid are considering a move for Nuno Mendes of Sporting Lisbon, according to AS.
The 18-year-old left-back is a product of Sporting’s academy, and he has been involved with the club since his first football step. His first-team promotion came last summer, and this season, he has made a total of 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and providing one assist as well. His performances have been very good, so much so that he’s been given a new contract which he signed last month, binding him to Sporting until the summer of 2025.
However, those displays have obviously attracted the attentions of a number of potential suitors, which are not likely to be daunted by the €25 million release clause in Mendes’s contract.
Real see the youngster as a long-term successor for Marcelo, who has fallen firmly behind Ferland Mendy under Zinedine Zidane and looks set to leave the club in the summer.
The Spanish giants apparently face competition from Liverpool, Manchester United, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
