Real Madrid have switched their focus from Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool’s Sadio Mane as their primary attacking target this summer, according to Le10Sport.
Since his arrival from Southampton in 2016, the Senegalese has been one of the main contributors in Liverpool’s revolution under Jurgen Klopp. His tally this season so far stands at 30 direct goal involvements (18 goals, 12 assists) in 38 appearances in all competitions.
Apparently, Real have started accepting that signing Mbappe from PSG could be beyond their financial power in the circumstances, given the impact the Covid-19 pandemic is expected to have on the budgets of most clubs. That’s been given as the reason why they’re looking at the Liverpool forward now, but they aren’t likely to find a potential move for him any easier to complete than the one for Mbappe.
Mane has never given any indication of considering a future away from Anfield. His contract with the Merseysiders doesn’t expire before the summer of 2023, when he will have turned 31, and as is the case with all Liverpool players, it doesn’t contain a buyout clause for a potential suitor to activate.
