Real Madrid signed Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer for €60 million as an alternative to Karim Benzema, but the Serbia international has so far failed to impress at the Santiago Bernabeu. He has only started in eight competitive matches for Los Blancos and scored no more than twice all season.
Such a relatively poor output has naturally sparked all kinds of stories linking him with a departure from the Spanish capital, but AS now report that the 13-time European champions see the 22-year-old as an investment in the future, a ‘work in progress’.
There was a lot of controversy around Jovic recently as he broke isolation rules in his homeland and faced punishment. Real refused to comment on the situation, but it seems it hasn’t put head coach Zinedine Zidane off from giving the striker a place in his plans for next season. The club are aware of his potential and ‘nobody doubts him’.
