The president of a Real Madrid supporters group has backed manager Jose Mourinho’s claim that the Santiago Bernabeu lacks atmosphere.
Mourinho has gone on the record criticising Real fans for their lack of passion during home games, and Rufino Garcia – president of Real supporters group La Pena Carabana – agrees with the Portuguese coach.
“Mourinho, in part, is right,” Garcia told Marca.
“Many fans go to the stadium like it is the opera or the theatre and whistle at the first hurdle. In this sense he is right, but we must also review ticket prices.”
“The other day (against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League) there were 10,000 empty seats at the Bernabeu due to the price of the tickets and that cannot be.”
“The other day the party was a little flat, but Mourinho can be rest assured that against Bayern Munich, in a hypothetical semi-final of the Champions League, the Bernabeu will be a boiler.”
“We are always there when the team needs us most, in bad times.”
Madrid have a 10-point lead at the top of La Liga, and host Malaga on Sunday.
