Real Madrid have been trying to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe for a long time now. They appear closer to achieving that goal than ever, but the matter is still completely in the hands of the France forward. That’s why, according to Real board of directors member Jose Manuel Otero, the Spanish giants hope the success of Jude Bellingham at the Santiago Bernabeu will help convince Mbappe to come at the end of this season.
Bellingham’s start to life in Madrid has been truly exceptional. The England midfielder has so far scored 10 goals in 10 matches for Los Blancos in all competitions, and there’s even talk of him being among the favourites for this year’s Ballon d’Or award.
Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires next summer, and though there is a clause allowing the player to extend it by another 12 months, Mbappe is unlikely to take it up. He will either sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 champions before then, or leave as a free agent.
