Real Madrid are keeping Villareal’s Alfonso Pedraza under observation, according to Marca.
Pedraza is an attack-minded left-back, just like Marcelo who is not only 30 years old, but also linked with a move away from the Champions League holders. Even if the Brazilian stays, they will still need a proper backup option and a potential long-term successor for him.
The 22-year-old has been on Villareal’s books for his entire career so far, though he has had loan spells with Lugo, Leeds United and most recently Alaves, for which he made 33 appearances and scored three goals last season. Though his primary position is as part of the back line, he’s also quite capable of performing well as a winger.
However, Pedraza is only one of several potential options for Los Blancos. It is likely they will need to sort out their managerial situation first, which still remains unclear after the sacking of Julen Lopetegui.
