Spain’s top league returns this weekend with a number of hugely exciting games that the fans have been craving following an international break that most supporters agree just does not bring the same level of intrigue as club football. With this in mind, there is a top of the table clash involving Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, with the two rivals going head-to-head once again.

Atletico Madrid have been in inconsistent form over the last five games, winning just twice and drawing the other three. This has seen Atleti lose ground on those above them, with the gap between themselves and Barcelona stretching to eight points already. Just 16 goals scored is hardly groundbreaking, but they have remained superb at the back, conceding just six goals in 11 games. Their match against Real Madrid is likely to bring back that fiery competition between the two sides as both will know that a win for either team coupled with another victory for Barcelona could see the loser of this game eliminated from the title race already.

For Real Madrid, things have been much better in recent weeks. Four wins and one defeat in their last five games means they have moved back into the title race, but they, like Atleti, are eight points short of Barcelona at the top of the league. Interestingly, they have not been in the same outstanding scoring form as they usually are, hitting just 22 goals this season, eight less than both Valencia and the league leaders. Real quite simply have to win this one, and we are backing them with odds of 6/5 from Bet365.
