Real Madrid ace praises teammates

Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy heaped praise on his teammates after scoring against Racing Santander in La Liga on Sunday.

The former Manchester United ace told RealMadrid.com: “I think the most important thing is that we played well – this is Real Madrid.

“We saw this when we had nine players against Valencia, but then we had two sloppy games. Today, again, we saw the Madrid that we want to see.

“The team was very solid at the back, and we took the opportunities that were presented to us. What was key was our mentality, and playing well this way increased our chances of victory.”

The Dutchman admits the win against Racing gives them confidence, in their race to defend their La Liga title.

He added: “Racing played a good game today, but we also played well. We’ve seen the Real Madrid that we want to see. It was a tough game but the win gives us confidence. We have to keep this going.”
