Spanish giants Real Madrid are stepping up their efforts to recruit Valencia full-back Jose Gaya, according to AS.
Having agreed a deal to sign Danilo Luiz da Silva from FC Porto, los Blancos also plan to add a quality left-back to their ranks, given that Fabio Coentrao is set to leave at the end of the season.
And it is now clear Real Madrid have made Jose Gaya their number one target, with the club chiefs already in talks with the player’s representatives.
Los Blancos have notified Valencia they are ready to match the €18 million clause, and the fact the defender has so far rejected several offers for a new deal is enough to suggest he is hoping to leave in the summer.
The problem for Real Madrid is that Manchester City and Chelsea are also prepared to match the asking price, but it is believed that Gaya prefers a switch to Madrid.
