Rafael van der Vaart has completed his dream move and signed a five year deal with Real Madrid, according to The Telegraph. The transfer fee which took the Dutch midfielder from Hamburg to Madrid is believed to be around £10 million.
Rafael van der Vaart has been in high demand after impressing greatly for his nation in this summer’s European Championships. Now he will look to weave his magic in the fortress that is Santiago Bernabeu alongside the likes of Wesley Sneijder and Guti.
Speaking on the hot topic of the summer, Cristiano Ronaldo, as he was unveiled, van der Vaart was short and precise: “It would be good if he came,” he said.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson has signalled the end of the Ronaldo soap opera by claiming that the player is staying and that that decision is final. Calderon himself admitted that van der Vaart might be the club’s only summer purchase.
