According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid could go after Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz during the summer transfer window – but only if they fail to secure the signing of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is quite clearly their number one target now that the signing of Eden Hazard has been officially confirmed, and while they will probably have to compete with Juventus in order to complete the signing, we’d say it’s pretty likely that they’ll get the job done if they want him that badly.
Going after Ruiz would certainly mark a big change of pace from trying to sign Pogba, but perhaps that’s the point. Manager Zinedine Zidane has been very aggressive in his transfer techniques since returning to the Bernabeu, and he makes no apologies for that. It’s good to know, for Real fans at least, that he’s got a back up plan ready if things don’t go accordingly.
