As reported by Marca, Spanish giants Real Madrid could compensate for Mateo Kovacic’s supposed departure by replacing him with Thiago Alcantara, also known simply as Thiago. The Bayern Munich midfielder has been linked with a move away from Germany for months now, and it seems as if Kovacic’s impending transfer away from the Bernabeu could open the door for him to finally return to the country with whom he represents at an international level.
Thiago, 27, spent eight years with Real’s rivals Barcelona in their youth setup all the way up into their senior team. His creativity and ball control have been pinpointed as two of the biggest attributes in his game and given their success over the last few seasons, Real Madrid‘s attacking force could become truly unstoppable if they were to add him to their ranks.
The potential move would obviously depend on what Kovacic decides to do, although a fee of €70 million has already been suggested if they’re serious about bringing Thiago to Spain.
