Spanish daily newspaper El Mundo Deportivo understands that Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez has rejected an opportunity to join AS Roma.
The Giallorossi were keen on adding the Spain international to their ranks in the January transfer window and they believed he would be interested in leaving los Blancos for greener pastures.
However, despite seeing his first team chances at Santiago Bernabeu severely limited, Nacho has decided to remain and fight for his place in Zinedine Zidane’s side.
The 26-year-old has been behind Sergio Ramos, Pepe and Raphael Varane in the pecking order for quite some time, but he does not appeared to be too concerned by the lack of playing time and has already rejected approaches from several top clubs.
Nacho is a product of Real Madrid’s youth academy and has so far made a total of 58 La Liga appearances for the club, while earning 5 Spain caps.
