According to Marca, Real Madrid have delayed the announcement of Antonio Conte as their new manager due to the Italian apparently demanding that Real signs a new defender to suit his preferred 3-4-3 formation. Real apparently aren’t too keen on the idea of playing three at the back, which could lead to something of a ‘stand off’ between the two parties.
The sacking of Julen Lopetegui seemed inevitable for quite some time, and when it was formally announced, everyone automatically assumed that Conte would be brought in almost immediately. Alas, while it’s nice to see Conte giving Real a taste of their own medicine, this certainly isn’t the best way to kick off a new working relationship.
Conte has been out of work since leaving Chelsea earlier this year, and he’s still considered by many to be one of the top managers not just in Europe, but in all of world football.
